Police said a man survived being hit by a train Tuesday night.
Police said they were called to the 1400 block of East Archer at about 9:30 about someone yelling. They found a train stopped in the area and the railroad employees told them the train had hit someone who was lying on the tracks.
Officers found a man between Elwood and Guthrie Avenues. They said he had a severely broken right leg and head trauma, but EMSA paramedics didn't believe the injuries were life-threatening.
Police said the conductor blew the horn and the man tried to move off the tracks, but the train still hit him. They said the man was intoxicated.
EMSA took him to the hospital.
