Oklahoma Methodist Manor hopes to start building soon on a $22 million expansion plan. The expansion will replace some of the oldest buildings on the Methodist Manor campus, and add some capacity to what they call the "continuum of care."
It's another step in a master plan and modernization; replacing some original buildings including the nursing center and the main kitchen.
Methodist Manor serves about 400 residents now, and the changes will add a three-story building in the center of the campus. The improvements will match other recent additions at Methodist manor and add 40 apartments to serve patients with dementia.
"But people living with the mid-stage of dementia, who are battling the complications associated with behaviors like wandering and anxiety, we don't have a specialized environment where we can serve those people right now," said the Rev. Steve Dickie, Oklahoma Methodist Manor.
Once Methodist Manor reaches their fundraising goal, actual construction will take about a year.
