Sand Springs Man Killed When Motorcycle Hits Mailbox

<p>A 46-year-old Sand Springs man was killed in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon, May 8.</p>

A Sand Springs man is dead after his motorcycle hit a mailbox Monday, May 8, 2017. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the fatality crash.

A collision report states Robert H. Flake was southbound on 209th West Avenue about 6 miles west of Sapulpa just before 4 p.m. His 2015 Victory left the roadway to the right and struck the mailbox.

Flake, 46, died at the scene from head and internal injuries, authorities said. The report said it's unknown if Flake was wearing a helmet.

His condition before the wreck and the cause of the crash remain under investigation.
