A judge has granted a motion by the Pittsburg County DA's office dismissing two drug charges against a former Haileyville school teacher.

Nathan Cato, 43, was charged in January 2016 with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of marijuana after his arrest at the school.

Cato was accused of buying the methamphetamine from a student while he was employed as a teacher.

According to court records, the dismissal of the charges followed two court rulings suppressing the use of statements Nathan Cato made prior to his arrest.

In a court filing, Cato's defense attorney stated police had violated his client's "constitutional rights.”
