Man In Critical Condition After Being Run Over In TU Parking Lot; Suspect Being Questioned

A man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run incident at the University of Tulsa.

Tulsa police say witnesses told them that a black or dark green SUV ran over a man. 

Shortly after, officers discovered that Samuel Barnes had been hit by his nephew Montez Davis who he met up with at 600 S. Delaware, in the TU parking lot. 

Neither was associated with the university, police say.

Davis fled the scene but was later arrested at his Broken Arrow home, where police also found his 2003 Chevy Tahoe; it was also taken into custody. 

Davis was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a serious injury collision.

Barnes was transported to St. John Medical Center in critical condition.

Police are still investigating but say the incident appears to have been done intentionally and not by accident. 

"It appears he was backing up slowly, should have known the person was behind him," said Corporal Greg Smith. "And he accelerated into the person and ran completely over him so, that I think shows some intent to harm."
