Fire Destroys Coweta Apartment Building

Firefighters say no one was injured in a fire which destroyed a downtown Coweta apartment building Saturday morning.

The structure located near Pecan and Broadway contained one apartment upstairs and one downstairs.

Firefighters say a person living in one of those apartments was not at home at the time.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state Fire Marshal's Office, but Coweta Fire officials don't suspect foul play.

The fire led to a power outage which left several nearby businesses without electric service for a time Saturday.

Several streets around the building were closed while firefighters brought the fire under control.
