For the second-consecutive year, Oklahoma State softball set a program record on its way to leading the Big 12 in All-Academic team selections, the league office announced today. The 11 first-team selections set an OSU record for first-team honorees, while the 12 overall broke the previous record of 10 set last year.
Vanessa Shippy was one of just five student-athletes from across the Big 12 to achieve the coveted 4.0 GPA.
In his first two years at Oklahoma State, Kenny Gajewski has helped lead the Cowgirls to 22 Academic All-Big 12 selections. Of the 22, 18 were named to the first team.
"It shows the commitment that our program has to the complete student-athlete experience," Gajewski said. "In the end, these kids are students first and I feel like these kids exemplify exactly what that means."
