Our next system will quickly move into the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with another round of shower and thunderstorm across part of northern and eastern OK.  While amounts may result with another inch of rain for some locations, excessive rainfall is not expected.

Due to the saturation of ground and continuing flood issues in some rivers and streams, another increase in some water levels will be likely but should not result in additional major flooding issues.

The pattern will support pleasant yet breezy weather today along with sunny conditions and highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.    After the system exits the area Wednesday, dry and pleasant weather will remain for most of Thursday through the weekend and possibly extending into early next week.

The upper air flow will bring a fast-moving disturbance into the area during the next 36 hours.   A surface low will develop to our south Tuesday as a front moves across northern OK with a wind shift but very little if any precipitation.   Later Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, a disturbance will help to create thunderstorms north of the boundary across northern OK.   Enough elevated instability will exist for some hail and gusty winds, but organized severe weather is not expected.  Temps will be cool Wednesday with north winds and highs in the lower to mid-60s.

Thursday a mid level ridge of high pressure will develop over the southern plains with the departing trough to the east and a new developing trough well west of the area.  This mid-level ridge will act to block the eastward movement of the western trough for the remainder of the week and the weekend.   The result will be pleasant and dry conditions with morning lows in the 40s and highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s Thursday and Friday.   Temps will warm a few degrees this weekend with morning lows in the 50s and highs in the upper 70s.

WARN Interactive Radar

We may have a few clouds Thursday along with a passing sprinkle or two across eastern OK through midday, but the presence of the mid-level ridge and a surface ridge also near the area Friday into Saturday should present us with mostly clear sky.   Sunshine will return Friday and Saturday, and probably most of Sunday.   A little good news for folks trying to dry out from the excessive rainfall this past weekend.   While flash flooding issues have ended, river flooding will remain for another few days before water begins to recede to normal conditions.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
