The American Red Cross is maintaining shelters for any residents who have had to evacuate their homes during the flooding. Red Cross Executive Director Lori McFarlane said eight people stayed in the Chewey shelter and one in Tahlequah.
Most of northeast Oklahoma remains under a flood warning until 11 a.m. Monday. Delaware and Mayes counties are under a flash flood warning through 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
The shelters will be open as long as they are needed, McFarlane said. The shelter in Oklahoma City is closing Sunday morning as they have not had any guests and no additional phone calls requesting shelter since Saturday morning.
They opened an additional shelter in Delaware County.
