Time to trade out the rain jacket for the winter jacket! The flooding rains have moved out, but some very chilly weather is sticking around for our Saturday.

Cloudy skies and areas of drizzle will linger around eastern Oklahoma today on the back side of the storm system that brought excessive rainfall to Green Country. Those cloudy skies will keep temperatures well below normal all day, as we’ll only muster low to mid 50s for afternoon highs. And with a stiff north breeze blowing, it will feel colder than that!

Skies will begin to clear this evening, setting us up for a cold night as winds begin to relax. Quite a few areas proms take place this evening, so keep a jacket handy for your date! By early Sunday morning, upper 30s are expected in many spots. Areas of locally dense fog are likely to develop by early Sunday as well.

Once fog begins to lift late Sunday morning, we’ll bounce back to much more pleasant weather to wrap up the weekend! We’ll return to lots of sunshine by Sunday afternoon with highs rebounding to around 70 degrees and pleasantly light winds.

More typical warm & breezy spring weather will be returning to kick off the work week. Stronger south winds on Monday will push high temperatures back into the upper 70s, and continued windy conditions on Tuesday should push us well into the 80s as clouds increase ahead of our next storm system.

An active weather pattern returns by mid-week as a quick-moving frontal boundary could bring a brief shot at some scattered storms by early Wednesday. A few strong storms could occur at this time, along with a slight cool-down for the middle of the week.

There are signs of a more substantial storm system setting up by the end of next week, and this could bring more severe weather to Green Country by next Thursday or Friday. We’ll be watching this closely over the next several days!
