Tulsa firefighters rescued a woman late Tuesday after they say she fell into the Arkansas River from the pedestrian bridge near Southwest Boulevard.

After falling into the water, they said the woman floated to another bridge downstream. At that bridge, firefighters say she climbed up a ladder into a nook and waited.

Firefighters climbed down a ladder of the old Southwest Boulevard bridge to the nook, got her into a rescue boat, which then brought the woman to shore.

Tulsa Fire District Fire Chief Jason Gilkison says the woman was checked out by EMSA paramedics even though she didn't appear to be injured.

"She was comfortable and just ready to get down," said District Chief Jason Gilkison.

The fire department did not identify the woman but said she was in her 30s.
