South Winds Will Help Thaw Out Northeast Oklahoma

Frigid air is hanging tough to wrap up our work week, but the weekend holds hope for those of you wanting a nice thaw!

Mostly cloudy skies spreading back into eastern Oklahoma will keep our Friday afternoon temperatures from moving much. We’ll likely only be able to muster low 30s across most of northeast Oklahoma, with some upper 30s across southeast Oklahoma. Our breeze will remain light from the southeast, but it’ll still be enough to keep a big chill in the air!

The same cloudy conditions that are keeping our afternoon temperatures cold will also help keep our overnight temperatures from bottoming out nearly as much as the past few nights. Lows look to level off in the upper 20s by early Saturday morning.

A returning south breeze will become quite strong on Saturday, with gusts over 20-25 miles per hour possible. That should help push our highs back into the upper 40s under a mix of sun and clouds. That south wind will remain pretty strong and chilly Saturday evening for the Tulsa Christmas parade, but fortunately the parade is also looking dry this time around!

An even bigger warming trend awaits us on Sunday as our next front approaches. Some drizzle will be possible on Sunday, but south winds out ahead of that front could push our highs near the 60 degree mark! Enjoy that, because it looks like more shots of Arctic air are looming over the next week or two!
