Keep the umbrella handy! Drizzly, dreary, and cool conditions will be making themselves right at home for our Saturday.
Cloudy skies will be hanging around throughout the day with any peeks of sunshine pretty tough to find. Areas of drizzle or light showers are most likely south of Tulsa through mid to late morning, but off-and-on light showers become more likely across most of eastern Oklahoma as we head into lunchtime and the afternoon hours.
Keep some light rain gear handy if you’re heading to any area Christmas parades, especially those later in the day.
Rain amounts will be very light in most areas, with amounts of a quarter inch or less likely for most of us. But those clouds and nagging showers will keep our temperatures from moving very much, with highs only in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.
Showers will begin to dissipate later tonight into very early Sunday morning, with cool conditions continuing into the remainder of the weekend. Some peeks of sunshine should return by late in the day Sunday, helping push our highs back into the low to mid 50s.
The same storm system responsible for our rain chances today will bring another chance at showers on Monday, particularly for areas east of Tulsa. Most of the showers on Monday will also be relatively light.
As that rainy system exits Monday, our attention turns to our first blast of Arctic air of the season! Some slightly chillier air will begin to arrive on Tuesday, but right now it appears the real Arctic air will arrive on Wednesday with temperatures possibly falling below freezing by late in the day Wednesday.
There is not a lot of moisture with this system so winter weather does NOT appear to be a major player, but we may have a shot at seeing at least some snow flurries by late Wednesday. Stay tuned!
Bitterly cold air with lows in the teens looks likely by late next week, so now is the time to make sure your pipes and areas around your home are ready for some bitter cold air! We’ll continue to bring you updates as we get closer to the arrival of that Arctic air next week.
