Part of Garnett next to Highway 169 is closed Tuesday morning, and will stay that way for several months because of a major road project. Crews have started working at Apache and Garnett.
There is construction equipment, drainage tile, temporary fencing and more. The intersection won't be reopening until January of next year.
They're detouring 'through ' traffic at Pine and Garnett. That's because Garnett between Pine and Apache will be closed until July of next year for this major project.
It includes new concrete, shoulders and drainage.
The city says the cost is over $5.4 million, and you're paying for it. This is part of the 2008 Fix Our Streets third penny sales tax package.
