The United States Geological Survey reported 3.3 and 4.0 magnitude earthquakes striking near Cushing with only a minute separating the two. The twin quakes were centered only a mile apart and a mile north of downtown Cushing.
The first quake, the 3.3 magnitude, struck at 3:54 a.m. The second quake, the 4.0 magnitude, struck at 3:55 a.m.
The quakes knocked power out for some of the city, but it has been restored.
So far, there are no reports of damage or injuries.
News On 6 and our partner, The Frontier, spent time in Cushing this week.
We spoke with homeowners and earthquake experts about response protocol to these quakes that seem to be intensifying - and what needs to be done to keep up with this growing issue.
That story will air Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
