TU closes out the regular season at home Friday night against Cincinnati, and a close-knit group looks to end it on a high note.
Head coach Philip Montgomery said, "We've got a group of guys that are as tight as any team I've ever been around."
The Golden Hurricane will try to use that bond to finish out the regular season with a win Friday, which would give them an undefeated season at Chapman Stadium.
Montgomery said, "We've faced adversity throughout the year already, and, those guys though, how resilient they are and how they continue to kind of take that motto that we've always had of fighting for respect."
"You have to win this week. Be 1-0 at the end of the week, and really our record kind of shows that right now," said Quarterback Dane Evans.
With the end of the year comes coaching changes, and, undoubtedly, Montgomery's name will come up in some coaching searches.
No one knows what the future holds, but it sounds like Montgomery has a bond with the school, the city, and with the team that won't be easily broken.
"I really do think it's probably more real or special than I could have imagined,” he said. “A lot of places talk about family; I think we take it to another level. These guys are like my sons. My attachment to those players is as strong as anywhere I've been."
