Tulsa firefighters rescued a man who either jumped or fell off a bridge into the Arkansas River Thursday morning.
Firefighters said they got the call at about 10:30. They aren't sure whether he jumped or fell off the 11th Street bridge or a different one.
Captain Mike Burgess said the man was injured when he landed in the river. Firefighters launched three boats at River West Festival Park and brought the man to shore where an ambulance took him to St. John.
Burgess said firefighters asked officers to accompany them because they believed it was possible the man got into the river to escape police.
Captain Burgess said the incident provided a good training exercise for firefighters.
