The principal and assistant principal at Jennings Elementary School in Pawnee County spent 24 hours on the roof as part of a reading challenge to their students.

Derrick Meador and Jay Reeves challenged the students to read 100,000 pages during the month of October.  The students ended the month reading nearly 170,000 pages.

The pair went up on the roof Monday morning and came down at about 10 a.m.Tuesday.

A spokesperson for Jennings Public Schools said Meador and Reeves stayed warm overnight by bundling up in blankets and sleeping in tents.
