The clouds will clear out early this morning and the sunshine will move back across the area along with north winds and highs in the mid-60s.
Our weather looks great for the next few days with chilly mornings and cool to mild afternoon temperatures.
Friday Night Football games will start and end in the 50s and our next system will brush part of northeastern OK late Sunday night into Monday.
The upper air flow is taking our main trough to the east today while another cut-off attempts to develop across the southwestern U.S. much like the past system for the last week. A fast moving Alberta type clipper will dive down the northern plains during the next 36 hours and will move across the Midwest and northeastern U.S. Thursday into Friday. The tail end of this wave will drive another weak boundary into the state Friday morning but the lack of moisture in the atmosphere will keep our precipitation chances out of the forecast. The southwestern low will eject into the plains late next weekend and may provide enough lift in the atmosphere to generate a shower or two Sunday night into Monday across far northern OK. This pop will remain quite low.

Most data continue to offer a major pattern change that will be underway early next week with a ridge developing across the western U.S. and the trough remaining across the east. This will create a sharp northwesterly flow moving from the NW Canada region into the middle of the nation. Colder air is likely to arrive for part of the nation by the middle of next week but this air mass will stay northeast of the state for the week. But the pattern is expected to remain active and will bring several systems across the southern stream late in the month along with the colder air spilling southward into the northern part of the nation. Data today brings a powerful storm system into the southern plains by late next week that would be a big weather maker for the state, possibly in the form of severe storms.
Today we’ll see the clouds early this morning exiting the area along with sunshine and north winds at 10 to 15 mph.
Thursday morning some locations along the Ok-Kansas state line may see some patchy frost with temperatures in the lower to mid-30s. The metro will have lows in the upper 30s. Thursday afternoon a southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph and sunshine will allow our highs to reach near 70.
Friday a weak front will move across the area with lows in the 40s and west winds early. Daytime highs will be in the upper 60s with north winds and mostly sunny conditions.
Temperatures this weekend will start in the lower 40s Saturday and highs in the upper 60s. Sunday the lows will be in the 50s with highs in the lower 70s.
Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
