Hillary Clinton would be the next president of the United States if kids across the country could vote.

Some Green Country students cast their ballot Tuesday in a nationwide mock election.

Kids at Angus Valley Elementary in Sand Springs have been keeping tabs on the 2016 election, and Tuesday, they made their voices heard.

"We've learned about all the branches of government," said fifth grader Cooper MacDonald.

He has been learning about government all year in his class; now he's putting it into action by choosing who he wants to be the next president.

"Jill Stein, Gary Johnson, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton," he said.

Angus Valley Elementary joined thousands of schools in the "Every Kid Votes" campaign - a nationwide mock presidential election for students.

They're casting ballots while at school and their votes are being posted in real-time online.

Principal Angelia Noel says it's making students pay attention to the issues.

"They are actually out there talking in the halls saying 'who are you voting for, why are you voting for them' and coming up with their own points," she said.

School leaders hope their current interest in government will get them to the voting booth as adults.

To remember what he's looking for in a candidate, Cooper said he simply has to look at the preamble of the constitution.

"Establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty," he said.

Students who participated in the mock election received an "I Voted" sticker, just like you get when you head to the polls.
