The Tulsa airports director has submitted his resignation to the board that oversees Tulsa's airports.

Jeff Mulder submitted his resignation to the board, saying he's taking a job in south Florida.

Mulder has been Airports Director since 2005, overseeing Tulsa International Airport and R.L. Jones, Jr. Airport.

He's overseen numerous projects over the years, including the creation of the centralized security checkpoint, a $60 million renovation of TIA's two airline passenger concourses and a $60 million runway reconstruction project.

Mulder will remain in his current position until the end of December. The Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust says it's already begun the process of finding his successor and plans to select a candidate by the end of the year.

The Trust says Alexis Higgins, Deputy Director of Marketing and Community Relations, will be the interim Airports Director when Mulder departs.

Higgins has been the airport’s point of contact for media for over ten years.
