Man Hit By Pickup As He Crossed Tulsa Street

Police say a man was seriously injured when he was struck walking across Skelly Drive late Thursday.

Officers were called about the accident on Skelly Drive just west of Memorial at around 9:40 p.m.  Police said the man was crossing in a poorly lit area of Skelly Drive.

Corporal Ian Adair with the Tulsa Police Department said there are some motels in the area, but the closest crosswalk is back east at Memorial Drive.

"Frequently, people tend to not cross at the crosswalk because it involves extra walking so they'll cross at any point along the street," said Cpl. Adair.

EMSA took the injured pedestrian to the hospital.
