Smithco Engineering will stop manufacturing heat exchangers in Tulsa next year.

The company is a subsidiary of Texas-based Hudson Products. It announced Tuesday that it won't renew its existing facilities leases in Tulsa.

According to a statement from the company, its general management, sales and aftermarket support teams will relocate to new headquarters in Tulsa by the middle of next year. However, Smithco manufacturing operations will be combined with Hudson Products facilities in Beasley, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico.

The company says combining Smithco and Hudson manufacturing capabilities will benefit customers and make its operations more competitive. It says it regrets the reduction in force in Tulsa, but that the move is necessary because of the energy business environment.
