It's been a year and a half since Cristal Gutierrez was shot and killed near 3rd and Houston while sitting at a red light with her boyfriend Alvaro Mondragon.
A round of testimony in Hao Le's first-degree murder trial concluded Wednesday.
Le is accused of killing Cristal Gutierrez during a drive-by shooting in April of 2015.
Police said Le was actually targeting Mondragon because he believed Mondragon had stolen guns, marijuana and electronics from his apartment earlier that day.
Le's girlfriend took the stand Wednesday and told the court she was best friends with Gutierrez and that she showed Le where the victim and Mondragon lived.
She said Le followed the pair when they left their apartment and fired shots into their car while they were waiting at a stoplight.
She testified that Le said if he saw Mondragon, he "would kill him."
Ten of the states witnesses took the stand in today's round of testimony.
The defense only briefly cross-examined the state's witnesses.
But during his opening testimony, the defense attorney said Le acted out of fear when he opened fire on the couple at the light.
The defense attorney also said that on top of suspecting Mondragon of burglary, he made Le scared for his life.
More witnesses are expected to take the stand starting at 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
Another man charged in this case could be in court as well.
Court records also show 19-year-old Rey Reyes has a status conference. Police told us at the time, they believed Reyes sold Le the gun that was used in the murder.
In Reyes' arrest report, he admitted Hao Le had told him he was robbed recently and was going to get the people responsible. Reyes said Le called him after the shooting and told him he had shot Gutierrez' boyfriend.
