Another unseasonably warm day is expected for most locations across eastern OK but a front will enter the area today and bring some slightly cooler air to part of northern OK later today. A stronger surge of cool air will arrive Wednesday night bringing another taste of fall weather to the state soon.
The front is moving southward this morning and will cross the I-44 corridor region this morning to midday before stalling this afternoon near or slightly south of the Tulsa metro. This will create some temperature differences across the region with mid to upper 70s across far northern OK, lower 80s around the metro, and upper 80s across southeastern OK. Wind speeds will be in the 10 to 15 mph range today. I can’t totally rule out a few showers or isolated storms today along and east of the metro, but the chance appears near or less than 10%.
Later tonight the boundary will begin migrating northward and will be positioned near the metro Wednesday morning with lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s. A mid-level trough will move across the central plains and help to shove the front southward Wednesday afternoon and evening with increasing storm chances along the front. The Tulsa metro will continue with a 30% chance of showers and storms with higher chances for the southeastern and east-central part of the area Wednesday night. A few of the storms may be strong to severe with damaging wind potential but the overall threat appears very low.
Temperatures Wednesday may top out in the lower 80s north and upper 80s south before temps begin falling by the late Wednesday evening period. This will bring another surge of pleasantly cool fall weather into the region Thursday through Saturday before slowly warming up Sunday into early next week. Temperatures Thursday morning will be in the 50s. Afternoon highs will stay in the upper 60s along with northwest winds and partly cloudy conditions. Friday morning will feature dry and cool conditions with lows in the lower to mid-40s. Afternoon highs will reach 70 along with sunshine and light north winds.
