A former Perry police officer was arrested Thursday after being charged with one count of lewd molestation in Kay County.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation took 45-year-old Matthew Vassar into custody in Ponca City after an investigation that began October 11th.
In the news release, the OSBI says it was asked to investigate after the mother of the child contacted Ponca City police.
The OSBI says Vassar has since resigned from the Perry Police Department.
In a protective order filed with Kay County, the victim's mother accused Vassar of touching the child inappropriately.
On Friday, a judge set a court appearance for October 21st with Matthew Vassar's bond set at $150,000.
