The Tulsa City Council wants you to educate yourself about State Question 777 before casting a vote next month. The issue is commonly known as "Right to Farm."

The council is expected to vote Wednesday on a resolution urging Tulsans to consider "the potential adverse effects on the ability of the City of Tulsa to regulate land use activities and to enact other ordinances and regulations to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Tulsa residents" should the question pass.

Some Tulsans are organizing a "Say No To State Question 777" rally at 5:30 p.m. outside Tulsa City Hall - before the city council meeting at 6 p.m.

The group argues if SQ 777 passes, it will bog down the city when it comes to creating and enforcing ordinances that deal with agricultural pollution. They say the legal costs would  be enormous, and the burden of proof too high, for local governments to be able to protect the environment for its citizens.

While they aren't holding a rally, the Oklahoma Farm Bureau has been an outspoken supporter of the 777.

They say it will protect Oklahoma farmers and ranchers from "unreasonable government interference and attacks by out-of-state special interests," providing additional constitutional protection of agricultural technology, livestock procedures and the right to make use of ranching practices.
