The Tulsa City Council plans to hear complaints about plans to demolish two homes so a parking lot can be expanded.

A church purchased the homes and cut down trees on the property, which neighbors say was a habitat for barred owls.

Jennifer Harmon and several neighbors of the property filed an appeal of a demolition permit granted to the church. Work has since stopped at the property.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3640 South New Haven, intends to expand a parking lot on the west side of their property. The neighbors oppose the expansion, and are upset over the destruction of owl habitat.

The appeal was added to the Tulsa City Council agenda for Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
