The BOK Center will host the Big 12 Wrestling Championship March 4-5, 2017, and the event is expected to bring more than 5,000 people to Tulsa with an anticipated economic impact of $1.3 million.
The Big 12 Conference announced that tickets for the championship go on sale Friday, October 7 at 10 a.m.
This is the first time Tulsa has hosted the event, and the second time it's been held at a neutral site. Tulsa will also host the championship in 2018, and a one to three-year extension is possible, according to the Tulsa Sports Commission.
Last year’s Big 12 champion Oklahoma State captured its fourth consecutive team title and finished 13th overall in the NCAA Championship after advancing nine Cowboys to the finals.
In July 2015, the conference announced the addition of six wrestling affiliate members. Air Force, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, South Dakota State, Utah Valley and Wyoming will join Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and West Virginia in Tulsa for Big 12 Championship competition.
All-session tickets can be purchased by visiting Big12Sports.com/BuyTickets and include all four sessions of the championship.
Tickets can also be purchased on BOKCenter.com and are available by visiting the Arby’s Box Office at the BOK Center or 1-866-7-BOKCTR.
A special presale will occur Wednesday, October 5 at 10 a.m. and ends Thursday, October 6 at 10 p.m. and is only available online, according to the Big 12.
