Most of us don't think of beer when we think healthy, but that could change with a Tulsa man's invention.
Jared Toay is a one-man operation - you might know him better as Jared's ProPops.
He's made a name for himself making and selling probiotic foods and drinks, a relatively new trend.
The drinks include a kind of good bacteria - living microorganisms - that help you with your digestion.
"People are starting to realize that a lot of their immune system is built inside this gut here, this area, so they're paying a little bit more attention to that," Toay said.
He recently started experimenting with beer - using the same process to create more alcoholic drinks.
These are probiotic, organic, healthier beers.
Toay said, "It's gluten-free, no grains in it, just three or four ingredients that taste exactly like beer."
Toay recently won a $2,500 grant from the Tulsa Startup Series to fund his BrewBiotic experiments.
You can find all of Jared's kombucha, popsicles and sodas at the Cherry Street Farmers Market every weekend; but because of Oklahoma's liquor laws, you can't buy his healthy beer just yet.
For now, Toay is perfecting his process.
He said he's already in talks with some large-scale brewers.
"You know, the passion of just being able to talk to people about better health, and specifically my products and great-tasting food, it sells itself," he said.
Toay lives in Tulsa but his kitchen is located in Oklahoma City, so when he's not selling or brewing, he's constantly on the road - to a healthier way of life.
