Organizers are expecting thousands to show up for a rally in downtown Tulsa Thursday evening in support of a Native American protest in North Dakota.
The rally at the Guthrie Green is called "Tulsa Standing With Standing Rock," referencing the Standing Rock Sioux tribe which has been leading a protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
A spokesperson stresses the 7 p.m. rally will be peaceful.
The pipeline is being built from North Dakota to Iowa.
Bobby Robedeaux, a Pawnee says the company building the Dakota Access Pipeline is desecrating sacred ground and endangering the the water
"My biggest concern is to show our native youth that there is a time to stand up against whatever, money, power," said Bobby Robedeaux.
During the rally, organizers are hoping to collect donations to support those in North Dakota protesting the construction.
