A house fire near 101st and Aspen is believed to have caused several loud explosions overnight in Broken Arrow. An elderly couple lived at the home, but fortunately no one was hurt.

Firefighters said they responded to two fires at the home located in the 1300 block of West Oak. The first one happened around 9:30 p.m. Sunday and started in the kitchen.

Firefighters said they had thermal imaging cameras that showed the fire was thoroughly out, but then around 3:30 a.m., neighbors from several blocks away heard explosions.

"Went outside - everybody was outside - and there was a huge fireball and a lot of smoke in the air," said Jeremy Lafoe. "It was crazy. I went over here to see what was going on."

Assistant Chief James Suddath said it is classified as a re-kindle.

One man said he heard three separate explosions. Windows are blown out, and the roof is gone.

Family members said there were oxygen tanks at the home. The second fire was much bigger.

The female resident was in the hospital for unrelated reasons, so she wasn't home. The elderly man and the family dog had gotten out after the kitchen fire, the couple's grandson said.
