The Tulsa Vet Center opened its doors Saturday so veterans and their families could get help from federal, state and local agencies all at once.
“[It's] kinda like a one-stop shop for veterans. Instead of them running around town hitting all the different agencies, they can get it done here,” explained Veterans Outreach Program Specialist Katrina Fisher. “They are not all together. The health centers not together with the behavioral health and the vet center. So, to get people aware of what’s going on and what the vet center does, we wanted to bring them closer.”
The Vet Center started in the 70's for Vietnam veterans because they weren't getting the help they needed.
It has now expanded to help all combat veterans.
