TU Football: Golden Hurricane Ready To Open Practice

The University of Tulsa football team gathered at the Case Athletic Complex on Wednesday afternoon for their first official meeting signifying the start of the 2016 preseason football camp. The Golden Hurricane will begin preseason practices 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning at Harwell Field
 
Tulsa coaches welcomed 105 players to preseason camp. Among the 105 players, 29 are newcomers and 76 are returning players. Tulsa welcomes 20 scholarship freshmen, one transfer and eight walk-on freshmen to the roster. In addition to the newcomers class, two true scholarship freshmen, safety Manny Bunch and offensive lineman Clay Greathouse, enrolled at mid-semester and participated in spring drills.
 
"We're eager to get back on the field and continue with what we began last year," said Montgomery. "It's always an exciting time when camp starts. There's nothing like getting between the lines and going to work."
 
Tulsa Football Fan Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, when the Golden Hurricane will hold a team scrimmage at H.A. Chapman Stadium. There will be inflatables for kids, concessions, raffle items, football select-a-seat, dress like a player, face-painting, and activities like throwing a pass, kicking a field goal, and pass-catching.  The team will sign autographs following the scrimmage.
 
Tulsa opens the 2016 season on Saturday, September 3, when Tulsa hosts the San Jose State Spartans of the Mountain West Conference in a 6:00 p.m. game at H.A. Chapman Stadium. 
 
Season tickets for the six-game schedule are available for $78, $150, $210 and $270, while a 3-Game Pick 'Em Mini-Pack Plan allows fans the ability to select three games out of the six-game home schedule for $45, $84 and $114. The Mazzio's Family Fun Zone Ticket Package provides the greatest value for a family, as a family of four (two adults and two children age 12-and-under) can purchase a ticket package for just $195 for the entire six-game home schedule.
