Anybody ever tell you that you look like someone famous? Well, it happens all the time to ORU faculty member David Farnsworth.

A lot of people tell him he looks like Vincent van Gogh, and that could earn him a bit of immortality.

A Canadian artist is doing a series of sculptures of famous redhead and van Gogh is the first. An online contest at iamvincent.com is looking for look-a-likes.

A former student thought he was a dead ringer, which is really nothing new.

"There'll be a few days weeks go by when I don't hear it at all; then, all of a sudden, I'll hear three or four times, 'You know, you really remind me of...'...I often finish it 'cause. I know what they're gonna say," he said.

So he sent in a picture to the contest site a couple of months ago and he's risen to 13th among the thousand or so entries.

"I've been as high as 6th," Farnsworth said.

He's got some stiff competition - there are entries from all over Europe and North America.

Some friends have created a fan page with a side-by-side with one of van Gogh's self-portraits, encouraging folks to vote for David. It's pretty startling, and the artist has asked him for more pictures.

Farnsworth said, "What I understand is by the 20th of August he will make a decision."

The winner will become the face of the new van Gogh sculpture.

Farnsworth needs your votes and time is getting short. You can vote and follow the contest here.
