TPD: One Killed In Rollover Crash On Tulsa Highway

A vehicle rolled over on the Gilcrease Expressway Tuesday afternoon. Tulsa police say one person was killed.

The driver of a red Chevy SUV told police he was driving westbound on the Gilcrease Expressway at about 4 p.m. when he swerved to avoid something in the roadway and hit a wall.

He said he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over.

Police said one passenger was ejected from the SUV and killed. He was identified as 21-year-old Demetri Walker.

According to police, a 15-year-old passenger transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was not injured.

Police said the driver was released, pending completion on the investigation.

The crash closed east- and westbound lanes of the highway for several hours. One officer working on the scene was treated for heat-related issues.
