A 12-year-old boy was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital after troopers said he ran out in front of an SUV near Tahlequah. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said the boy is in guarded condition with internal and external injuries.

The injury collision took place just after 10 p.m. on State Highway 82 just north of Stone Chapel Road in Cherokee County. A trooper's report states the young boy ran out into the roadway and was hit. A 32-year-old Park Hill resident was behind the wheel of the Ford SUV, and there were four children ages 1 through 6 in the vehicle. No one in the car was hurt.

The boy is also from Park Hill. The trooper's report said he and the driver of the SUV were in apparently normal condition before the injury collision took place.
