Tulsa is set to become the first city in the United States to have a 5K run based on Pokemon Go.
Kelsey Quick said it started as an idea to get some friends together to play in Tulsa's LaFortune Park and now has turned into a Pokemon Go event drawing hundreds to Tulsa.
The Pokemon Go 5K is scheduled for July 30 at the park. Kelsey says it is a way to combine fitness and your fun of the game. The 5K is free for casual runners and walkers, but a timed chip will cost $15 with all money raised going to charity.
Kelsey Quick says 3,000 people have already shown interest on the 5K's Facebook page and more than 800 are listed as going. To register for the event, visit the event's website.
I'll have more with Kelsey on what she hopes comes from this first of its kind 5K at tonight on News On 6 at 9 and 10.
