OK Cities Helping Those Dealing With Power Outages, Storm Damage

Cities across Green Country are helping people recover from storm damage and cope with power outages.

Tulsa residents looking to get rid of tree limbs and branches can drop them off, for free, at the City Mulch Facility starting at 7:30 Saturday morning.

The site is located at 2100 North 145th East Avenue.

The normal schedule for the Mulch Site is 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., but it is staying open until 7:30 p.m. this weekend.

Participants must show a current City of Tulsa utility bill or a driver's license with a Tulsa address.

Bixby is also helping residents looking to get rid of debris. The City will open a debris management site starting Sunday, July 17.

The site will be open between 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until July 31.

Only tree debris will be accepted at the site at 131st Street halfway between Mingo Road and Garnett Road.

Disposal of tree waste is free to Bixby residents with a valid City of Bixby water bill. You can find more information here.

There are still several people without power across Green Country. To help, several utility truck from Texas drove into Oklahoma Friday night to, hopefully, speed up the process.

In Muskogee, the Red Cross and Emergency Management are establishing the Muskogee Civic Center as a shelter for those without power.

It opens at 8 p.m.; the City said cots, blankets and water will be provided.

There are several cooling stations throughout Tulsa, including most of the City-County libraries.
