Morning Storms Give Way To Afternoon Heat In Green Country

<p>Morning thunderstorms will pass through leaving heat advisories and warnings in Green Country Wednesday.</p>

Showers and storms expected this morning will be moving out before lunch time. With high temperatures this afternoon and high dew points, heat advisories and heat warnings are in effect for Green Country. 

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunder watch for Craig, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa and Washington counties through 9 1.m. Excessive heat warnings will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. for Craig, Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington Counties. Much of Oklahoma is under a heat advisory through 8 a.m.

Heat index values this afternoon will be above 110 for Tulsa County and counties to the north. Other locations will range from 105 to 110.  It is important to save strenuous outdoor activities for the morning or evening hours.

We do have a heat advisory issued again for Thursday afternoon. A cool front will near Green Country on Friday, and that should increase our rain and storm chances for the weekend especially Friday night and Saturday morning. A slight chance for showers and storms will stay in the forecast for the start of next week.
