Tulsa police say a 57-year-old woman who was found dead inside a residence located in the 4100 block of South Birmingham died due to an accidental fall.

Sergeant Dave Walker originally said the woman died of a gunshot wound, due to a handgun recovered at the scene, but after further investigation found that she died due to an accidental fall causing a wound.

Police recovered a handgun at the scene, but it had not been fired.

Officers told News On 6 a family member went to the home around 10:30 Monday morning and found the woman, deceased in a bedroom.

When firefighters and EMSA arrived, they called police, according to Corporal Scott Anderson, TPD.
