Sand Springs police say a 16 year old attacked his father with a hatchet early Saturday.

Officers got the call just after 12:30 a.m. to a home in the 400 block of North McKinley.

They say Jason Costes apparently was waiting for his father to come home. Police said when the dad arrived, Costes allegedly struck him with a hatchet causing severe injuries to the father's face, arm and leg. The victim was taken to a Tulsa hospital. There is no word on his condition.

Police said the teen then fled and is believed to be driving a Silver Honda Pilot with a Cherokee Nation license plate of CE1000.

A family member told police he may be heading to Illinois to see a girl.  Police also say there may be a shotgun in the vehicle, so Jason Costes should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police ask if you see the vehicle or Costes to call 911 immediately.
