New video shows the dramatic end to a high-speed chase. Owasso police say it started with shoplifting but quickly turned into a police pursuit.

Body cam footage shows Thursday night’s chaotic scene, as Owasso officers chased down a car with two shoplifting suspects.

Lieutenant Nick Boatman with Owasso PD said, "In these scenes here, they are chasing them on southbound 169 where we already had some officers stationed for another call, and, luckily, those officers were quick to get the stop sticks out - the tire deflation devices."

The car eventually rolled to a stop and one of the passengers bailed out with officers not too far behind.

Owasso police say the whole thing started at a Belk store in the Smith Farm Marketplace Shopping Center. They say the two suspects were caught stealing purses.

Boatman said, "The suspects had entered the store, had cut some security tags off some expensive merchandise and when they were confronted by store employees they ran out."

After the chase, police arrested Hayley Blondin and are still looking for the other suspect, Gary Ramey.

Police say they recovered nearly $800 in purses from the car.

Police said shoplifting cases like this aren't uncommon; in fact, on Friday, a shoplifting call came in from the Old Navy store just a few doors down from Belk.

"There are several grand larcenies because of the high retail density in some of the corridors of Owasso, lots of the stores get hit, but we do a pretty good job in catching a lot of them," Boatman said.
