A Broken Arrow man is in jail after police said he held his estranged wife against her will.  Investigators say Sunday afternoon - other drivers began calling 911 to report two people fighting in an SUV near 23rd Street and Kenosha.

Police said James Ford forced his way into his wife's apartment despite a protective order and eventually into her SUV as she tried to escape. Investigators say Ford became physically violent and - at one point - jumped in the passenger seat and grabbed the wheel - forcing it off the road.

An arrest report states he then began to rip up the vehicle's dashboard and punch his estranged wife.

It was two witnesses who eventually pulled Ford off the victim until police arrived, records show.

Ford also faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon - because at one point police say he threatened his ex-wife with a baseball bat, pushing it into her eye. She had taken a protective order against him last year.

The 37-year-old man was booked on complaints of kidnapping, first-degree burglary, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, violating a protective order, interfering with a 911 call and malicious injury to property. His bond was set at $56,000.
