Officers said they responded to a shots fired call at 2:45 a.m. in the 7300 block of East 21st Street.
The victim, who called his mother after the shooting, told police he was driving near East Central High School when several people opened fire on his car. He was hit but drove off, then lost control and crashed his car through a fence and backyard of a nearby home.
