Police say a man shot while driving his car in east Tulsa early Saturday is recovering at the hospital.
Officers said they responded to a shots fired call at 2:45 a.m. in the 7300 block of East 21st Street.
The victim, who called his mother after the shooting, told police he was driving near East Central High School when several people opened fire on his car. He was hit but drove off, then lost control and crashed his car through a fence and backyard of a nearby home.
Police said before officers arrived, the victim's mother found him and flagged down an EMSA ambulance who took the victim to the hospital.
Police said the victim's wound appears to be non-life threatening.
