A committee overseeing a $245 million renovation of the Oklahoma Capitol is figuring out how to protect the building's vast collection of artwork while construction is ongoing.
The State Capitol Repair Expenditure Oversight Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday to discuss the plans.
They will be briefed by the Oklahoma Arts Council on some options. The panel also will receive presentations from both interior and exterior restoration teams.
The Legislature approved a $120 million bond issue in 2014, followed by an additional $125 million authorization this session to ensure all the money for the project is lined up.
The project will include a complete excavation of the ground floor and the creation of a new basement-level public entrance, along with upgraded electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
