An American Airlines spokesman says the last of eight flights diverted to Tulsa International Airport Tuesday because of severe weather in Dallas should complete their trips Wednesday morning.

The Dallas area was pounded by rain and thunderstorms Tuesday evening, dumping almost 5 inches of rain and causing some flooding problems.

The flight diversions left hundreds of passengers stuck at TIA overnight.

American says five flights eventually left Tulsa late Tuesday, but the remaining three planes; Flight # 372 from Denver, Flight #1298 from Santa Ana and Flight # 2248 from Baltimore were all scheduled to leave by 8:30 a.m. Wednesday en route to Dallas.

Passengers stranded at Tulsa International told News On 6 the unexpected stop in Tulsa complicated their travel plans.

Traveler John Potoczny said he had been in and out of airports for almost 24 hours. He was one of the several passengers whose American Airlines flights to Dallas were diverted to Tulsa.

Zac Anger was on a plane to Dallas from Baltimore yesterday when he said the pilot announced they'd have to land in Tulsa. He says he - along with about 50 others - slept in the airport overnight.

"The airline was great...the airport was pretty comfortable," Anger said. "I may not fly to Dallas if I can help it because of the weather, but it was good overall."

Both men assured us they'll be glad when they get  to their final destinations, whenever that may be.

"I'd hate to say what time because I'd probably be wrong," he said. "It's just one of those couple days that [are] just bad."
