The Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission says an 11-year-old boy nearly drowned Saturday on the Illinois River.
Crews say the boy was playing with his brothers on the river at the Sparrow Hawk Camp near Tahlequah around noon.
They say he was on an air mattress when his legs became entangled in underwater brush and he was pulled under for about 10 minutes.
Illinois River firefighters were able to pull him of the water.
He was flown to a Tulsa hospital while on life support.
Emergency crews say he was not wearing a life jacket when he went under the water.
