Low Severe Weather Threat Today, Increasing Chances Next Two Days

Today's severe weather threat is lower than the previous couple of days. However, any thunderstorm that forms this afternoon could quickly become severe. In the wake of this morning's storm activity, a slightly more stable and capped environment is in place over Green Country.

Just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Watch for Kay, Noble, Osage and Pawnee counties in Oklahoma and Chautauqua County in Kansas until 9:00 p.m.

While we are in between storm systems, our warm and humid air mass could still allow a few thunderstorms to form, especially along an outflow boundary across central Oklahoma.  Any storms would carry the threat for very large hail and locally damaging winds.  

While we can't rule out thunderstorms into the evening or overnight, most of our computer models indicate a quiet night ahead.

Thursday and Friday will feature higher storm chances with the threat for severe weather, particularly late Thursday. Hail, high winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible with those rounds of potential storms.
