A Jenks school bus has been involved in wreck at 73rd and Wheeling Monday morning. A school spokesperson said elementary school students were on board, but no one was seriously hurt.
Jenks Public Schools Director of Communications Rob Loeber said the bus was picking up students at the Firefox Apartments when it was involved in the fender bender. A car pulled out in front of the bus, and the bus driver couldn't avoid rear-ending it.
A few of the students got some minor bumps and bruises, he said.
They were checked out at the scene by firefighters and paramedics.
"It's a little bit of a traumatic event any time you're involved in an accident," he said. "We're lucky and happy nothing serious happened here."
The district said it ran into some trouble notifying parents since most of the kids are native Burmese speakers.
"I think what we've tried to do is get an interpreter out here on the scene as quickly as possible and that way make the communication with parents more easy and more effective," Loeber said.
Most of the kids were taken onto school.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, Loeber said. The driver did get a ticket for the wreck.
